MANAGING LEARNING DELAY THROUGH ASSESSMENT, TARGETED TEACHING & MONITORING
A child with developmental delay is a child who has not gained the developmental skills expected of him, compared to others of the same age in motor function, speech and language, cognitive, play, and social skills. To provide support, the child needs to be assessed so that the teachers obtain a baseline of the child’s functioning. From this, teachers plan teaching activities with careful monitoring of the child’s progress. As the child attains projected targets, teachers continue the cycle of assessment, teaching and monitoring.
